Photography is an art form that can be used to document other art forms. In this case I'm talking about traditional art. Traditional art has different variables depending on the media you are documenting. Also with creative art work there are optimal ways to depict the art piece. Here is a guideline for photographing traditional art.
Paintings
Often paintings need to be documented. These can be classical paintings that are hundreds of years old or newer contemporary art work. In any case it's important that you don't use the flash on your camera. The flash will bleach the painting and this is why they band it at most art galleries.
Sculptures
You can use digital photography to truly capture the essence of the art piece. Panoramic photo techniques are for documenting sculptures. This is especially useful for POV statues that depict two different images depending on your stand point. If you have to take regular camera shots you generally need 3 views: front view, side view and back view.
Photos
Sometimes you need to document photos. It's essentially taking photos of photos. Again don't use the flash but if you need light use safe external choices.
All art photography media needs to be displayed with the best photography technology. LED light boxes are great for photography exhibits and general photography display. They come in a variety of styles to choose from including acrylic light box, fabric light box, slim fit light box.
