The first thing to consider is the possible shapes available. The standard LED signs are square or rectangular in shape. This works well with signs that will use only text. Round or irregularly shaped signs are often used for image or logo display.
The next thing to look at is colour. The LED bulbs come in standard colours for a formal tone. But they also come in a full spectrum of colours, sometime different shades of one colour is available.
A strong thing to consider is what the sign will display. Will it be images, text or both? Simple images are fine to display with the standard amount of bulbs. If higher resolution is desired the sign may have to be custom made. With just text most signs are great with the standard amount of LED bulbs in place.
Aside from being bright and visible, LED signs have the option to make text and images move across it. The simple motions for the displayed information are: going across, flashing, wave motion, and transitions. More animation can attract attention, display more information and generally give off a playful vibe.
For a more formal business less or no animation would be used. The option for no animation is frequently used for information at bus stations, fast food venues and construction signs.
